Jodi Breakers – My Review

I don’t know where to start, the movie is wrong on so many levels. Let’s have a little background first.  The movie is about a guy - Sid (Maddy) who gets divorced and gets into the business of getting the unhappy couples out of their marriages and avoiding the alimony by putting the guilty party to test. He himself loses his prized procession (His Beloved Audi) as alimony. In the due course, he meets Sonali (Bipasha) who becomes his business partner and helps him do the same task efficiently.

Now with this background, I think that the subject provided a good masala for a 2 hr movie and the director should be able to do justice to this story-line. However, this one failed miserably.

As mentioned above, the movie suffers from a lot of wrongs. Bad editing, below average music, very very bad dialogues, below average acting coupled with some very sloppy dubbing. These things just put you off right from the beginning and you lose interest.

Bipasha still has not accepted that she cannot act; she is just good in those fitness videos and should stick to those. Maddy, though has done a decent job in acting, is looking fat and I mean really fat and does not deserve this role(Sorry Hai Jee for the Maddy’s Die Hard Fans) and the dialogues are written keeping in mind that you are a 10 year old kid who needs explaining after each and every act.

Omi has been stereotyped into the same 3 Idiot kinda role, though his jokes are somewhat funny, they get to you after sometime and start putting you off. However, he is still the saving grace as others will fail miserably at their job.

The other decent part of the movie is Milind Soman and Dipannita. Milind has done a decent job and Dipannita is looking way better then Bipasha and has done justice to her small however significant role. I really liked her in this movie.

The director thought that putting good looking women in skimpy clothes in the starting song sequences can make the movie run, Well, I am sorry Mr Director, you thought wrong. Today’s intelligent audience is looking for a mature plot with a good storyline and dialogues which gives their intellect some boost. Though, skimpy and scantily clothed women are always welcome :-D, however you can’t run  your movie based on them:-P.

The Greece sequences are picturesque and otherwise screenplay still keeps you a little bit interested and also keeps you distracted from the other non interesting stuff (Read.. Everything Else).

My Verdict – If you have nothing else to do on your weekend, are as so bored sitting at home that you would kill the neighbour's cat, I would still say that kill the cat and stay at home. Dont watch this movie. Yes. Its that bad. (Unless you want to look like the guy on the left :-P)

Schrodinger's cat....An Experiment, An Analogy

I read about this yesterday and I found it very interesting. Lets start with what exactly it is.

Erwin Schrödinger, A Physicist, in 1935 conducted a Quantum Physics experiment, here is what he did.

This is a Hypothetical experiment that he conducted. We place a living cat into a steel chamber, along with a device containing a vial of hydrocyanic acid. There is, in the chamber, a very small amount of hydrocyanic acid, a radioactive substance. If even a single atom of the substance decays during the given test period, a relay mechanism will trip a hammer, which will, in turn, break the vial and kill the cat. Now comes the interesting part. The person sitting outside (The Observer) will never know, until he opens the box as to what is the fate of the cat. He would never know if the atom substance has decayed, and hence cannot know whether the vial has been broken, the hydrocyanic acid released, and the cat killed.

Since we cannot know the fate of the cat, as per Quantum Law, the cat is both dead and alive at the same time and this is called the superposition of states. If only we open the steal chamber, and peep inside, we would know whether the atom decayed, the acid leaked, the hammer smashed and the cat died or not. Which would make it clear and then we would have a clear fate of the cat.

So in other words, the observation or the measurement itself will affect the outcome and the outcome itself, on its own will not exist, and there will be no single outcome until the observation is made.

Now this is all Physics and might sound a little boring, and you might be thinking.. WTF happened to him, and why did he start discussing Quantum Physics out of the blue. Well I heard about the analogy and I found it to be directly impacting our lives, here is my take on the cat experiment.

In our lives, when we start thinking about the hypothetical situations, and start dreaming and imagining them on multiple levels and usually in our minds begin our sentences with “What If” and then just leave the thought there in the open and move on to something else, at that stage, how will we even know the fate of that thought, of that “Non-Action” of ours if we do not go right ahead and jump right in.

Let’s say, we love someone, and we talk to the other party involved and there is no decision in place as to whether the relationship should continue or not. How will the fate of that relationship ever be known if the relationship has never begun? It’s like the cat; it’s both dead and alive at that stage. You would never be able to determine the fate without opening the box. Similarly you would never be able to determine the fate of a relationship without jumping in it.

This is just one analogy from this experiment, I am sure you can find thousands other, Just wanted to share the thought and put it out there. Interesting right ?

Bapu Kehnda... Tension Nai Laini !!

One of my very dear friends keeps reciting the above phrase. And I keep on thinking, does saying it really helps? The whole fucking environment around us is filled with rage, tension, stress and god knows what all other negative stuff. Everywhere you go, everywhere you see there is someone hitting someone, either literally or emotionally.  So how do you really escape from the entire high tension environment? Well.. Here is my take on it.

Saying it helps. It definitely does!! Continuously saying the above phrase will actually help you cool your temper, I have tried it and it has worked for me. On numerous occasions, while driving, while in a disagreement at work or even in a friendly fight which was about to turn ugly. It brings the temperature down and helps cool you down and even the other party involved in the conflict. Try it. You never know it might just work for you.

Whenever in a conflict ask yourself the question, the quintessential question, What Am I Getting from This?  Is your car hit, The damage is already done, you cannot turn back time and go back on the decision of taking/not taking that turn to avoid the accident, so..once again.. the damage is already done. So why the FUCK are you engaging yourself in the fist fight, I am not saying be like Gandhi Ji and say Koi na yaar chal chadd de, ho gaaya hun... jaan de.. There are other ways to show your aggression. Even an eye can do the job. People usually underestimate the power of the stare/glare. Use your glair instead of your voice. Try This. At least once and see how well it works.

Imagery is another very effective method, what basically it means is think and visualize something nice, someplace nice, a happy place which will bring down the temper, My advice, don’t start using it when you are driving :-P, not a good place to imagine things when the road requires all your attention, however this can be used in office tension situations, had a fight with your boss. Come to your seat/cubicle/desk and sit and breathe.. Breathe some more.. . Then relax your muscles and close your eyes for a min, imagine that Goa vacation that you took, that scene at Baga Beach, sitting at the English cafe with that Tuborg Bottle and seeing the sunset through the green bottle. And WHAM !! There goes your tension. I like this technique. What it does is, apart from relieving the tension, it also tells me what I am really working for. My Goal.. :-D

Music.. The Ultimate stress reliever. My Funda.. When In Doubt/Tension, Go to the MusicLand. Take that smartphone/ipod/mp3 player/walkman(Really.. U still Using those :-P) and take a dive into the musicland. Its Bloody AWESUM !! Anything that you enjoy, smooth, light, fast, disco, rap bloody hell it can be anything. I believe it’s a myth that only a particular kind of music can soothe you and your temper, Its Music. ANY KIND OF MUSIC. Just put those earphones on and hit play. 5 mins and you are lost, you wouldn’t even remember what were you thinking and why did u start the music. Its that good.

I can go on and on with many more techniques, however I believe in the above three very much. I have tried all of them and they work for me. I don’t know if they will work for you or not, however I am sure they will be very helpful in pushing you towards a thought process of relieving the tension that’s around you. If not these, something else will work for you however you will put an effort to find out what will.

So. Thank You My Dear Friend.... My Best wishes to you all.. and.. Again. Bapu Kehnda.. Tension Nahi Laini.. :-D

My Theory of Relativity !!

In a particular situation; dissatisfied, stationary or satisfied, the objective is not simply “The Goal”, however its the “Relative Goal “set by the competitive subject.

It’s always relative, Let me repeat, It’s always relative. Whatever we do, whatever we think, whatever we think we can do, is always relative. It’s relative to thyself, its relative to the past, it’s relative to the competition or it may be even relative to a dear friend’s performance.

Let’s see, I am going for a morning walk, a simple task, what do I do, I pick up my shoes, wear my tracks and get out of the house for a walk. Does it stop here, No! What I do is, I measure, ALWAYS, How much did I do yesterday or how much my neighbour is doing, how much that guy on TV said that a person of my age can/should do? What is it.. Relativity.  I could have simply done my bit and walked till I felt tired and stopped and gone home and slept, But No, I always measure. Keeda hai na !! Relativity ka Keeda !

Similarly, its appraisal time, all is done, everything completed, Letters are handed, and I get above market average and I am more than satisfied (Don’s get excited, Hypothetical situation:-P, Happy.. During Letter Distribution.. Ha.. U kidding me!!) and I move on, then a few weeks later, there comes the news that the guy who was with me, equally deserving, got 4 % more than what I got. Now.. The happy feeling is gone, I don’t look at any bloody reason i am just sad, all worked up and ready to go to the boss to fight (Again Hypothetical, you forgot ..HR’s Famous Non Disclosure Policy.. :-P). Why is that.. This is relativity; I was all fine till I got to compare my numbers with someone else.

Why is relativity becoming such an important part of our lives, Yes, the other name of relativity can be competition, however still, why do I have to compete, compete with anything in the similar domain. Why I can’t simply live my own life with its merits and demerits or whatever it has in store for me, Why do I have to say, I need a “Relatively” bigger car, as I very clearly know that that bigger car will also serve the same purpose as my current car?  Food for thought!!

A Woman in Black – My Review

A Woman In Black
First things first, it’s a horror movie, no blood, no gore, not much of zombies either it’s an old fashioned edge of the seat, jumpy, creepy horror movie. And that’s not a bad thing at all. In fact that’s brilliant.

The movie starts with the lead character Arthur Kipps (Daniel) struggling to keep his job as a solicitor and also mourning the death of his wife who died while giving birth to a boy who is now  a cute little 4 year old. Arthur has been told that if he wants to keep his job, he has to travel to a small village/town in London to sort out the property matters of a woman who died a month ago.
The town itself brings in the mystery, the unfriendly locals(All But One Guy) who are only interested in sending this guy back as soon as they can, the stares and glares he gets from everyone around, The dying children and last but not the least, the mansion situated in the middle of nowhere (literally) gets you to the edge of your seat.

There are hardly any dialogues in the movie, in fact there is a good 20 minutes stretch where no one speaks anything, however its the director’s brilliance that keeps the audience interested.  It might be the toys coming to life, the creaky chair, the appearance of woman out of the blue and even something as simple as the lighting of the candles. Overall the direction and cinematography is brilliant and the movie keeps you interested right till the last minute.

If you talk about the acting, Daniel has come a long way from his Harry Potter role. However its not easy to picture the boy wonder as a widower and the feeling that “any time now, he will take out his wand and cast a spell to dispel all evil” will stay with you. Having said that, credit has to be given for his cool and calm performance in this stern role.  He has done a good job in playing Arthur Kipps, he stayed in the character and moves with it as the movie moves along.

Overall, this is a very well made horror movie especially for the audience who are not really interested in blood/gore. What might put you off is the climax, it gives you a feeling of incompleteness and dissatisfaction. Without revealing much, I would say that there will be people who will really like the ending and there will be people who will really hate the ending and that will make and break as to how was your overall movie watching experience.

In my opinion, if you are a Horror/Thriller fan, go and watch the movie. You will like it J

Overall Rating : 3.5/5 Stars

Who I Am !!

Well.. That’s a tough one to answer. Who am I.. Why am I here.. and What Am I here for.. I have been trying to figure this out for a loong time now, nd didn't really come up with a very gud answer yet. So I will continue to search and do more research on this topic. In the mean time I will share what I have identified till now.

I am a human being - Oh yeah !!..That's for sure. The un deniable fact, I am not a droid, I am not an alien species. and I can clearly say that I am not a thing.. I am a human being.
I am Dipen Verma - Well.. This is debatable.. I am Dipen Verma because my parents chose to call me Dipen Verma. I didn’t pick that name, Well.. I was about 20 days old.. So Of course i would not have the option to choose nd pick my name.. (I wish I had though.. :-)) but yeah.. that’s what my name is.. Dipen Verma
I am a Gadget Freak - Well.. That’s what I really Am. A Gadget Guy..  I like Gadgets.. In fact.. I just LUV gadgets.. Phones.. Tabs.. Gimmme Anything electronic nd you have my attention. I want to be the Know It All guy. Always use something unique and different as a gadget. Always helpful in solving queries and I love doing it..
I am a Listener - And a very good one apparently.. I don’t say it, people around me say it about me. I listen.. i analyze.. and I DO NOT judge.. and provide with suggestions (Not Solutions).. People like talking to me and I like talking to people around me.

Now That U know Who I Am !! In the next we will talk about what I do.. and What I really wanna do :-)
